Happy New Year!

My daughter Trina and I took a short trip to Florida to visit family recently and it was nice to enjoy some sun and warm weather and walk on the beach. We also spent some time at the American Orchid Society.
Back home we are in winter survival mode and the usual battle against the elements of snow, wind, ice and cold that we get every January. The days are getting longer and and this is the time of year to catch up on the thousands of photos taken over the year before.
I recently joined facebook and am enjoying connecting with friends, family and clients there.

Season's Greetings!

Time seems to go by way too fast and here it is almost the end of the year!
On Thanksgiving we welcomed a new horse into our family, a lovely Lipizzan girl named Bella. She is adjusting well and sure to be the subject of many of my photos in the coming year. She is also the subject for our Christmas card this year.
For Christmas I would like to share this Irish Blessing with you:

"May you always have walls for the winds,
a roof for the rain, tea beside the fire,
laughter to cheer you, those you love near you,
and all your heart might desire"

More Fall Fun!

What can be more fun than a group of avid equine photographers getting together for a weekend of fun and photography with a good looking group of willing cowboys and cowgirls, top of the line working Quarter Horses and countless scenic locations? Clark Farms in south central Pennsylvania was a gracious and generous host to our group and gave us three days of awesome photo ops. The more I am around horses the more I appreciate seeing true horsemen work their horses! See all my pix from this shoot at this link:

2009 Colorado Cowboys and Horses Calendar is here!

I am so excited to see this year's calendar. It looks great!
You can go here to see the cover and some of the interior pages and order your copy!
This calendar is filled with photos from the 2008 Great American Horse Drive put on by the Sombrero Ranch in Northwest Colorado every spring. The cowboys and cowgirls along with guest wranglers round up and drive around 800 horses 50 miles. It is beyond description, and it is sure a blast to try to document it with my camera. Last year was my third year photographing and I am looking forward already to next year.
More photos from the drive and the ranch cam be seen at this link.

More Fall Colors

I don't think the colors are as nice this year as they are some years but there are some brightly colored trees here and there. I spent some time outside enjoying the beautiful weather yesterday on our property and tried to capture the lovely light coming through the leaves of this maple tree.

Fall Colors

Fall is here and the colors are changing fast. This is one of my favorite times of year but also a bittersweet time as we know what is just around the coner!
Here are some photos I have taken over the years of what it looks like on our farm this time of year. Here is a link to more fall images.

Arabian Beauty

I love shooting horses in motion and when the horse is an Arabian stallion it's a real treat for me. Recently I photographed Ron Hevener's stallion Selket Louchiano and am sharing a few favorite photos from this shoot.

If it's the end of August the Fair was here and Summer is almost over!

These photos were taken at the recent Delaware County Fair in Walton, New York.

I always enjoy seeing all the different animals, this fair is known for the richness and diversity of the agricultural exhibits from rabbits and chickens to some of the top dairy and draft animals in the country.
More here to see the horses and here for various farm animals.

Grey Horses

I spent some time shooting the beautiful Lipizzan stallions of Waltzing Horse Farm in New Berlin, New York this week. These stallions are so kind and gentle I was able to photograph them right in their stalls. I am hoping to gather enough images for a new collection of art prints that feature just grey horses.

Wizard and Merlin

These two Morgan geldings are full brothers and belong to my client Debbie Gunset. As you can see they were lots of fun to shoot and enjoyed playing together.
